Losing Angel

FAITH: "Oh I know that hunting. It's the same hunting I did when I heard Angelus was back in town. I know that look babe. You're worried he's turned again, your guy gone dark. and part of you is fucking terrified he has but you're refusing to believe it's true for as long as possible. And even when he's nearly destroyed you, you'll still hold onto that tiny glimmer of hope that it'll work out ok. Then if he dies a part of you will wish you died right along with him."

TENEL KA: "I am truly sorry for your loss Faith"

She wasn't sure that anyone had ever told Faith that, and she knew how important the simple words were to hear sometimes.

"If you need to mourn him Faith, mourn him now. Here."

FAITH: She still felt on the verge of tears, even if she refused to cry. She took a deep breath and tried to calm her raging emotions down.

"I miss him," she said quietly. "most people are celebrating the monster's death. I miss the man who saved my life."

TENEL KA: Tenel Ka nodded once sharing something with the younger woman, a shared pain that neither would ever speak of again but both understood about the other. She liked Faith, and hoped she found her way back from her darkness.

"Tell me about the man that saved your life. Tell me who he was before. That way there will be at least one other who remembers."

FAITH: Faith swallowed hard before speaking.

"The first time we met I was a good guy and thought he was a bad guy and I tried to kill him. Then came the months of madness from me which kinda included me trying to sleep with him, steal his soul, kill him, kill his girlfriend, being paid to assassinate him, torturing his friend..." She paused, remembering that night in the alley.

"I begged him to kill me. Pleaded with him and he didn't. He was a vampire, but with a soul, punished to feel guilt for everything he did as a monster. So he understood me. What I'd done, how I felt. He's the reason I confessed. When I was in prison he was the only one who visited me. When he was in trouble he was the reason I broke out. He was a Champion, the Champion. The vampire with a soul. He helped the helpless even when everyone else turned away. He had strength and loyalty that most people could only dream of. And when he believed in you you'd actually start to believe everything would be ok. Even after everything I'd done, to him, to the people he loved.... he never gave up on me."

[For Chaos Cube RPG] Aftermath

When: The aftermath of the explosion as the dust begins to settle.
Where: The front lawn.
Who: Faith and Peter

Faith lay back, hating how useless she was feeling. She watched as more and more injured people were brought out, some barely able to stand. And the growing collection of bodies off to one side, covered with sheets or coats or whatever was at hand. Including Micheala. She swallowed the lump that was threatening to form in her throat. Now she wasn't in there trying to help people she had no choice but to face the fact her friend was dead. God, someone would have to try to contact her boyfriend back in her world.... Faith closed her eyes against any tears, waving away the concern from someone (she didn't bother to look up to see who) walking past.

She tried to take a few deep breaths to regain her composure, but the broken ribs screamed in protest. But the reality was she had been lucky to get away with even surviving after crashing through that floor. Thanks to B and the new guy. She opened her eyes, looking around to see if there was any sign of him outside again yet. Inwardly she prayed he was alright. It would totally suck if he died on the same day he arrived.
